French Baroque 19th century Louis XV style finely carved walnut figural buffet server console with a variegated Rouge Royal marble top, the apron centered with a relief carved figure of an allegorical Neptune flanked by a pair of drawers with carved scrolls and acanthus with gilt bronze handles, all above a full-length wooden shelf. The corners with carvings of seashells and lined-acanthus, circa 1890, Paris. Measures: Height: 40 inches (78.1 cm), width 93 1/2 inches (76.9 cm), depth: 23 inches (48.9 cm).
Note: The central carving of Neptune as well as the gilt-bronze drawer handles resemble the style and quality of works by François Linke (1855–1946), who was a leading Parisian ébéniste of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. As we have not, as of yet, been able to find any literature, signatures or stamps by Linke, we can not attribute this piece to be him or his workshop, but we find it important to note all these similarities.
