A very sweet pair of 19th century French bronzes depicting a cherub and a young girl. Signed Bulio.
The toddler girl holds a small posy of flowers, the winged Cherub, perhaps cupid? Also resembles a toddler, he leans forward curiously smelling the flowers.
On white and pink marble bases.
Cherub/Cupid
In christianity Cherubs or putti are heavenly beings who attend God.
They closely resemble some forms of Hellenistic cupid, the Greek god of love.
Jean Bulio (1827-1911)
Bulio was a French bronze artist known for his classical sculptures often featuring cherubs or musicians. He is also known for his bronze bust of Christ.
