A fabulous antique Swiss wood tavern table circa late 17th to early 18th century, Known as Jogl table in Swiss Alps and German Bavarian region, the table features a carved rectangular top with a long frieze drawer to one side, two hidden draw-leaves that open to a full-length dining table of 85 inches. Supported by four splayed baluster legs connected by a broad box stretcher. Without leaves, the table is 49 inches long.
The table is in a very good antique condition well used with patina throughout such as old dings, gouges on the edge, small chips, faint rings on top and scratches and expected general wear, but in a beautiful charming and stable condition. There are two period repairs, one on each extension leaf. Extensive worm holes and minor losses of wood on the legs. Examples are all shown in the detail photos.
