A wonderful antique Soupière et son Couvercle en Faience (French faience Tureen and Cover).
Dating to the early 18th century, this very rare form is decorated in the Moustiers style and possibly from the workshop of Clermont-Ferrand.
With grotesque mask handles and the original lid.
Measures: Length: ca. 14 1/2 in.
Provenance: From the estate of George Lucas of Baltimore, Maryland. Thought to have been purchased by Lucas in France in the 19th century.
