This 9.25″ faience pewter-mounted tankard from the 3rd quarter of the 18th century is cylindrical in form with a handle mounted in pewter. The place of origin is probably Nurnberg, Germany. It is polychrome painted with a stylized landscape with palm trees and a young lady with sunhat walking among the palms. The lid is heavy in solid pewter with a thumb rest knob. Some engravings are still visible.
Condition is good considering the age. There are two fine hairlines. The
pewter foot rim has minor breaks.
