18th century. antique two-body chest of drawers, trumeau sideboard in walnut and veneer walnut with maple threads & silver inlaid. Upper part with two doors and two internal shelves ; the lower part with three drawers.
This important piece of furniture, on the back, bears the writing -1728 – FERENC GIULAY which certainly represent the date and name of the owner flanked by an unidentifiable brand.
The furniture was recovered in Austria and was produced in the period of Emperor Charles V of Habsburg, emperor of the Holy Roman Empire; from research carried out the name corresponds to that of one of his army general and the mark could be the eagle of the empire in honor of him.
The piece of furniture well represents the taste and shapes of the Hapsburg empire
