An antique Italian hand painted Savona tin glazed syrup jar inscribed AQUA DE PIANTAGNE dating from the early 18th century, the rounded earthenware jar stands on a rounded pedestal foot with a short pouring spout to one side and a strap handle lopping to the short funnel shaped neck. The jar is hand painted with foral garlands and ribbons with a banner applied around the center of the body. The jar is not marked.
Offered in good presentable condition with the usual glaze fritting and chipping around the handle and upper and lower edges and with a reattached spout with chipping and painted restoration.
Provenance: From the collection of a late gentlemen collector, Norfolk.
